2015 Hikianalia: Aotearoa to Hawaiʻi

At 11:30am on April 15, 2015, the voyaging canoe Hikianalia departed Auckland Harbor en route to Papeete, Tahiti before continuing on to Hawaiʻi. Kālepa Baybayan served as the captain and master navigator for this leg of the Worldwide Voyage. On board Hikianalia were a total of 15 crewmembers. During the 2,400 mile return journey to Hawaiʻi, crewmembers sent frequent updates so that educators and students could track her progress in conjunction with the Worldwide Voyage Tracking Map.
