Hawaii to Tahiti – Update #5

  • Posted on 7 Jun 2014
  • In Nav Reports, Updates

Update #5 via ʻŌiwi TV:

The satellite connectivity with the canoes has been slow and they are sending over photos and video but it is taking longer than usual. From the limited communication we have had with them we can report that they are in good health and spirits. They have been facing quite a number of squalls and have been working very hard opening, closing, and reefing sails.

We did a Google Hangout with Pwo Navigator Chadd ʻOnohi Paishon  and he gave his thoughts on how the voyage has been going so far for the first week. Waiting for weather in Hilo has proven to be a good decision as the canoes are making great speed have reached the ITCZ in record time.
