Join the Summer Reading Program
Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the 2015 Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS) Summer Reading Programs from May 31 through July 18. Registration for the free seven-week programs at public libraries statewide begins on May 31. Some libraries may extend their programs beyond the July 18 date; contact your local library for dates and other guidelines. The 2015 theme for children is “Every Hero Has a Story” and for teens is “Unmask!” Adults will also be encouraged to read and “Escape the Ordinary.”
Participants who visit their local library and read at least one book per week are eligible to receive a free reading incentive, while supplies last. In addition to reading, the programs will feature performances by artists from the University of Hawaii’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program. Performance programs will be highlighted in the June issue of the Holo I Mua newsletter as well as on the HSPLS website.
