Hālau Kū Māna Lā ‘Ohana
April 9, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Come see a showcase of Hālau Kū Māna Public Charter School students work at their annual Lā ‘Ohana (Family Day) on April 9th 8 am – 1 pm. This event showcases haumana (student) learning, integrating place and culture based knowledge with academic core content areas. From elementary through 12th grade, students will articulate what they accomplished through their Place-Based Inquiry (PBI) days and Senior Projects. Topics include work with Paepae o Heeia, Aihualama Loi, Kānehūnāmoku Voyaging Academy, Friends of Hōkūleʻa and Hawaiʻi Loa, master kapa maker Wesley Sen, native Hawaiian health and leadership, and many other cultural topics and community partners. Please join us to learn how collaboration and integration deepen student understanding of traditional and modern ʻike.
The event will take place in the Hale A’o (Hawaiian Studies Buildings) at Windward Community College.
