From Puea, Wai'anae on O'ahu, Sam serves as a Media Specialist aboard Hōkūleʻa. He first sailed on Hōkūleʻa in 2002 and sees her as a beacon of Aloha. Sam hopes that the Worldwide Voyage can wake the world up to mālama honua and aloha 'āina. While at sea, Sam misses ice cream and his keiki.
