To Michi, Hōkūleʻa is the light, hope and heart of the people of Hawai'i. While at sea, she misses the smiles and love of friends and family back on land. While not voyaging, Michi misses the embrace of the ocean, the salt, the sun and the wind filling her senses and connecting her to her surroundings.
