A waterman with a passion for education, Duane is the Founder and CEO of Nā Kama Kai, a non-profit that conducts ocean-based programs for keiki (kids). Duane first sailed on Hōkūleʻa in 2012 and to him, Hōkūleʻa represents the hope and commitment of an island people to return to a sense of balance and sustainability through journey, education and fellowship. He hopes the Worldwide Voyage will nurture a dialog around the world about Mālama Honua. He hopes to contribute to that very dialog with his 7 keiki at his dinner table. While sailing, he will miss his family and hiw work at Nā Kama Kai but he is excited to teach keiki around the world about Mālama Honua.
