Ah Lun first started sailing on Hōkūleʻa in the late '70's. He see the beauty of Hōkūleʻa in the hard work by many to prepare her for and sustain her while voyaging. Ah Lun hopes that through the Worldwide Voyage we become a stronger community not only managing the kuleana (responsibility) of our own but to also be willing to give help when another's seems overwhelming. If we can do all this and share this abroad, then that is an accomplishment, says Ah Lun.
A retired lineman, Ah Lun misses spending time with his family while doing chore or relaxing while at sea. At home, Ah Lun misses his canoe family and the concert of the sea, the theatrics of the heavens and the dancing of the canoe beneath his feet.
