C2CConnect your students to Hōkūleʻa, Hikianalia, and the Mālama Honua movement through our Canoe to Classroom Program!

Canoe to Classroom (C2C) seeks to directly engage teachers to collaborate, create, and pilot activities and lessons based on the themes and values of Polynesian voyaging and wayfinding, Hawaiian culture, and efforts to mālama honua. We are looking for educators who, together and independently, will help to create meaningful learning opportunities for themselves and their students by integrating lessons learned from the legacy of Polynesian voyaging and the Worldwide Voyage.

Between January through July 2017, participating teachers will select four different monthly workshopping dates to meet with PVS Education team members to craft activities, lessons, units and implementation strategies that fit their subject area and instructional needs.  A member of the PVS Education team will visit participating teachers’ classrooms to support in implementation and documentation.  C2C workshop experiences will include, but are not limited to, interacting and networking with like-minded educators, learning new technologies and applications for classroom instruction and student engagements, and an invitation to participate in an education summit commemorating Hōkūleʻa’s Homecoming in June 2017.

Join us on December 20 to learn more about our C2C Program! Talk story from 3 to 4:30 pm and a waʻa experience to follow from 4:30 to 6 pm!
