Crew Profile: Kealoha Hoe

PVS Member Since
HOMETOWN:
Hakipu'u, O'ahu
PRIMARY DUTY:
Watch Captain
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety Officer
A veteran Hōkūleʻa crewmember since 1999, Kealoha has served as Cook, Safety Officer, and Watch Captain, among other duties aboard the canoe. To him, Hōkūleʻa embodies the spirit of aloha. Kealoha hopes that the Worldwide Voyage spreads a sense of awareness about the similarities and differences of cultures around the world.
While at sea, Kealoha most misses time with his family and interactions of daily life. While back on land, he misses the spirituality of the wa'a and the time to reflect on the simpleness of life and the complications we create.
