’76 Crew Member John Kruse Reflects Back on Hōkūlea’s Tahiti Arrival

On the 44th anniversary of Hōkūleʻa’s historic arrival into Papeete, Tahiti after her maiden voyage from Hawaiʻi, John Kruse takes us back to that day on June 4, 1976, and shares what it was like to be part of the crew that was greeted by 17,000 Tahitians. 1976 footage courtesy of Billy Richards and KHON2 News.
